Abstract
Patriarch Lukijan Bogdanović ascended the throne of the Metropolitanate of Karlowitz under very complicated circumstances in relation to the position of Serbs in Austria-Hungary. His controversial election with the support of the Radicals and without support of the episcopacy announced an unfavourable period for the Serbian church in the Monarchy. The Patriarch had great responsibility and carried a heavy burden, for which he was not fully prepared. His tragic end in 1913 symbolically represented a prelude to the events before the beginning of the First World War.Downloads
